Very Exciting Day

Today we moved six hives to the Durham College Whitby Campus. The bees will be a part of the

W. Galen Weston Centre for Food which already features multiple greenhouses, a pollinator garden, fruit and vegetable gardens and a naturalized area. This location will provide the bees with a mix of diverse pollen and nectar sources. We are pleased that this joint project with Durham College will help increase awareness of the vital role bees play in our ecosystem. Partnering with Durham College has the potential to be a haven for our honey bees. The honey collected from the hives will be used by the students in class, and available for sale at the Pantry and incorporated into the food and drinks served at Bistro '67.
